When Sam reached out to me to document her and her sister-in-law’s young girls for their in-home holiday photos, I was OVER THE MOON excited. Sam had such a vision for her daughters and their sweet cousins, and we had so much fun documenting the holiday magic and the relationships between these young girls! Check out some of the highlights from their session! I’ll also be sharing some tips on how to plan your own holiday session from my perspective as a Family Photographer in Batavia.
In-Home Holiday Photos
Coming from a family photographer based in Batavia, one of the best pieces of advice I have to set yourself up for success in an in-home session is to plan out an activity to do with the littles! For these girls we planned to spend time by the tree, let them play and rough house a bit and then decorate holiday cookies! The girls were so sweet and patient and kind with one another. We had so much fun dancing around the Christmas tree and decorating cookies together. They really made these in-home holiday photos SO simple and such a joy to capture, which just goes to show how an activity for the littles to focus on can make a session!
Tips on What to Wear for a Holiday Session from a Batavia Family Photographer
As a family photographer in Batavia, I always make it a point to my clients that when styling for sessions like these it’s important to choose a color palette to pull from for each person. With those colors you can mix textures for a bit of added flair, fun, and holiday spirit! With in-home sessions, especially when it comes to holiday photos, you want to choose outfits that fit in with and complement the surroundings of your home. Considering the holiday decorations around the house, and the activities the girls were taking part in, this meant greens, whites, and reds were our colors of choice.
Capturing these in-home holiday photos of Sam and her sister in law’s daughters was SO much fun! It’s the perfect session to get you in the holiday spirit.
