This session is a special one to me, as I have a close connection with the Safe family. Nate is actually my husband’s older cousin, so getting to know him and his wife Kate along with their children has been such a treat. This made taking their family photos in Lake City, Minnesota so much fun as it was the second time I’ve documented their little fam. The first time was a few years prior, so seeing how little Fitz and Juliette have grown since then was incredible, and part of the reason why I LOVE family sessions!

Family Photos in Lake City, Minnesota

Along the Mississippi River you’ll find the sweet little  town of Lake City, Minnesota, which is where we chose to take the Safe family’s photos. Lake City is a gorgeous little stop along the river that has some of the best views and most incredible sunsets you can find in this part of Minnesota. There’s also plenty of beachfront available and public parks to play at which made it the ideal spot for the Safe’s family session. The kiddos had a blast playing on the playground and in the sands of the beach alongside Nate and Kate. Capturing these little moments of the kids being kids and the love shared within their little family is what family sessions are all about!

Why I Love Being a Family Photographer

After talking about the Safe family’s photos in Lake City, Minnesota it should come as no surprise to anyone that I adore family sessions! If you think about it, your family is in a constant state of change. Kids grow up SO fast, their interests change, they develop their own thoughts and opinions, and over time become more and more independent. It’s for these reasons that I love being able to document family sessions. Having these photographs of this specific moment in time to look back on forever is so important for a family.
