Chengyin and Ja won a giveaway for a Chicago couples session I put on the summer of 2022. Wanting to have more experience in both in home settings as well as documentary photography I launched a giveaway on my Instagram and they entered which was so exciting! Ja and Chengyin spent many of the early years of their relationship long distance, so having their first home together was really special for them. Capturing their couples session in their home in Chicago’s South Loop would end up meaning the world to them!
More About Chengyin and Ja
Loving the outdoors and also spending time at home in their Chicago apartment, Chengyin and Ja love the simple things in life like caring for one another and spending quality time together. We started off their couples session exploring their home in South Loop and spending some time in each room of it, documenting the way they move together in their space. I LOVE documenting couples in their homes. Not only does it just share so much more about their relationship and how they spend time together, but it also is where you typically feel the most comfortable to be yourselves together.
Photos on the Chicago Lakefront
After taking photos in their home in Chicago’s South Loop the three of us headed out to the nearby lakefront for the remainder of their couples session. Having multiple locations as part of your session is a great way to give your album a bit more variety, as you can see from Chengyin and Ja’s! We had a blast together walking along the lakefront and capturing their love during their couples session.
Chengyin just reached out to me recently and let me know that they had moved to California. She had never really thought about taking photos in their home, but now that they have left Chicago, she appreciates the photos from their couples session in their old South Loop apartment more than anything. It’s reasons like this why couples sessions are SO important. if you’re ready to book me for a couples session of your own be sure to send me an inquiry through my contact page!
