Down Town Wheaton Senior Photos | Jackie Class of 2022

For Jackies Senior Photos Adventure Session we went ALL over Wheaton. From St. James to Down Town Wheaton and even her high school for her session. After rescheduling her session not once but TWICE because of the rain, we opted for a Sunday morning sunrise session, and I am SO GLAD we did. Those golden hour rays did NOT disappoint.

What time of day should you have your session?

In most cases for senior sessions, I suggest having your session start within an hour of sunrise or a couple of hours before sunset. These times of day are called Golden Hour. Golden hour is a photographer’s dream time for photo sessions. It helps to create nice even lighting to work with and prevents unwanted shadows from showing up on our clients’ face/body as we are taking photos. On clear sky days the sun also tends to have a golden tone to it hence why we call these times of day golden hour.

Sunrise

We started at the St. James forest preserve near Wheaton for Jackie’s senior photos. The session started about 20 minutes after sunrise without a cloud in the sky and the lighting was absolutely incredible. The way the light burst through the trees was GORGEOUS, it just goes to show why sunrise will always be such an awesome time for photos.

For Jackie’s first outfit she wore a pale green dress with a small floral pattern on it. This dress was perfect in that the pattern was on the smaller side, so it wasn’t too in your face with shapes, and it didn’t distract from Jackie herself. She also loves accessories, so she paired her dress with her apple watch as well as a handful of smaller necklaces, bracelets and rings that she wears on a regular basis.

We decided on a wardrobe change while we were at St James and Jackie decided on wearing her favorite felt hat. I LOVE when my seniors add these personal touches to their sessions. It really helps to make the session feel more like you and add some more personality to your photos. Plus a hat makes the PERFECT prop to play with in your session.

Wheaton Warrenville South

Next to our second stop, we headed off to Jackie’s high school Wheaton Warrenville South for some senior photos in her school colors. We got pictures out on the football field as well as WWS’s sign. One of my favorite things to do with my seniors is incorporate some parts of their high school into their session. It really helps to capture who you are now before you start this next big chapter of your life.

Down Town Wheaton

We finished off Jackie’s senior session in Downtown Wheaton where there are so many cool little nooks and crannies perfect for your photos. For Jackie’s Senior session we met over by Carlson’s Paint, parking by the Wheaton 121. After we met up we walked through the back alleys of Downtown Wheaton snapping some photos in front of the older walls that make up the back alleys. Downtown Wheaton has SO much cool history throughout it and so many different spaces perfect for photos. It is by far one of my favorite Wheaton Locations for photos.
